    Do We Need a Waiver?

Check your location to see if a waiver is required:

If your site is within the yellow circle in the red tinted area, we will need a waiver and it must be a federal, state or local government project.

If your site is inside the red tinted area but outside the yellow circle, we can fly your site with a waiver.

If your site is just outside the red tinted area we may still need a waiver to fly around the site. A good rule of thumb is if the site is within one (1) mile of the red tinted area we should get a waiver.

We can take pictures of property approximately one (1) mile inside the yellow ring, but only from a position outside the yellow ring, so the views will be from one direction. We do not need a waiver to fly inside the green circle, known as the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ.) There are special procedures for us to fly in the ADIZ, but there are no restrictions as to when and where we can fly.

We handle all aspects of filing and managing waiver requests with the TSA (Transportation Security Administration.) A sample statement of work (SOW) can be downloaded here. It is simple and straight forward, and absolutely required. It usually takes 7-10 business days for TSA to issue a waiver. We usually have a two week weather window to fly the site.

Instructions: Enter your address and click search. If your site is within the red tinted area, known as the Flight Restricted Zone (FRZ), we will need a waiver.
